Extraordinary Women of Winckley Square Guided Walk

Tours

Friday 26th July 2019

2:00 pm till 3:30 pm | Centre of the Gardens

Some of the Friends of Winckley Square researched  The ‘Women of Winckley Square’ in 2018 to mark the centenary of partial women’s suffrage. The Women of Winckley Square guided walk has proved extremely popular.

It ranges across two centuries and features a variety of women who (for example) rode alongside Wellington at the Waterloo Victory Parade, firebombed Lord Leverhulme’s bungalow, was on the SS hit list had Hitler won WWII, founded an order of nuns and established schools across the country.

The guides link the stories of the individuals to the society of the time.
